CREATING A DRIVE-THROUGH MATERIAL STORAGE FACILITY FOR HEAVY SNOW CONDITIONS

Heavy snowfall in the area created ongoing challenges for storing and handling materials outdoors. Materials needed to remain protected and accessible throughout the winter, while vehicles and equipment still required enough space to move efficiently during deliveries and day-to-day operations.

Designed for Drive-Through Access

Large openings at both ends of the structure created a practical drive-through layout, allowing trucks and machinery to enter from one side and exit through the other. This reduces unnecessary reversing and provides a continuous route through the building for deliveries, collections and material handling.

Keeping Materials Protected from Heavy Snow

With significant snowfall common in the area, providing reliable overhead protection was a key requirement. The covered structure keeps stored materials protected from direct snow accumulation and changing weather conditions, while the high roof and clear-span interior maximise the usable space below.

Keeping Material Handling Moving Through Winter

Combining covered storage with unrestricted vehicle access created a more efficient environment for loading, unloading and moving materials during difficult winter conditions. Vehicles and equipment can operate directly alongside stored materials, helping maintain accessibility and keep day-to-day operations moving throughout periods of heavy snow.
